Philosophy Statement
I feel that art has the ability to enhance learning and confidence in the classroom. Researchers have been studying the benefits of art education for many years; one of the key reasons is that diversity and variability are celebrated in the arts.
Involvement in the arts is directly associated with improvement in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skills. Art can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork. In art, students work on projects at their own level of ability. Teachers can accommodate all students by stressing there is never a wrong answer in art, and encouraging each student’s personal creativity.
It is an honor to be an Art Teacher. With my experience I know I will be able to look within each student and help bring his or her best talents forward. And for those who wish to pursue art, I will be able to help see where it can take them, and hopefully I can do for one student what art has done for me.
